Teaser and the Firecat is an album released by Cat Stevens in 1971. It contains 10 songs including hits "Morning Has Broken," "Moonshadow," and "Peace Train. The story features the title characters from the album cover, top-hatted young Teaser and his pet Firecat, who attempt to put the moon back in its place after it falls from the sky. Published in 1972, the book has been out of print since the mid-1970s.

TEASER AND THE FIRECAT was much anticipated in 1971 and its release was met with even more critical acclaim and commercial sales. Fans were not disappointed with this album at all. It sold itself to on the album charts and attained gold status in less than three weeks. So many old friends here from an album I wore out a couple times over the years. I got the MP3 version and those have been digitally remastered and sound absolutely sparkling on modern audio equipment.

Before Cat Stevens’ best selling album ( on Rolling Sold Out to the Man Stone Magazine’s Top 100 Selling Albums of the 1970s) came Stevens’ children’s story book, Teaser and the Firecat. That’s right, Madonna didn’t do it first. The story is about Teaser and the Firecat trying to put the moon back into the sky after it falls down onto a barn. Fortunately, the album has nothing to do with the story besides its name and album cover, because that would have been one crappy concept album

Cat Stevens released 'Teaser and the Firecat' in October 1971. The response to Teaser and the Firecat was immediate. It became a huge hit, just missing the top of the chart, settling in at No. 2, setting up the next year's Catch Bull at Four, Stevens' only No. 1 album in the States. And in a reversal of commercial fortune, Teaser was a bigger hit in the . than it was in his native . America was like a sleeping beauty for me," Stevens summed up to Sounds magazine in 1971. I've always wanted to get into America because so much influence has come from there and it's always a great challenge to make it in America

Newbie question: So, how many pressings/issues is this Matrix/Runout description describing? Five?
Jaiarton Jaiarton
There appears to be a matte grey version and a yellowish laminated versino of this sleeve. From what I can tell, the grey matte sleeve is paired with the 3U pressings and the yellow laminated sleeve is paired with 4U and 5U presses. We probably need separate listings.
