Bl ck B st rds Vinyl. I recommed this album to those who want to hear more examples of Doom's early 90's production, the way MF Doom sounded in 1993/1994, or just curious of the lost album.

Bl ck B st rds features some of the most controversial album art the conscious hip-hop scene ever released. The art depicts a Negro cartoon character being hanged from the gallows, like in a game of hangman, beneath him are the words Black Bastards (missing the A’s). The cartoon was the fuel that forced Elektra to drop the group from its roster, despite whatever talent the actual record displayed. The style has influenced more underground rappers today than almost any one else. Each member brings a new flavor into the collective, be it Onyx’s rhymes, Zev’s flow or Subroc’s extensive collection of samples and rhythms. Bl ck B st rds is as much a fitting end to one life as it is the beginning of another. If Operation Doomsday is the Fellowship of the Rings, then Bastards is undoubtedly hip hop’s Hobbit. Label: Metal Face – MF 2004-LP.

Employing ideals and samples from the album The Blue Guerilla by Kain of the Last Poets, the tone of this record was to be dramatically different than their first, which was lighthearted and playful while still spreading a message about racial stereotypes. Volatile yet poignant tracks like "What a Nigga Know" and "Black Bastards!" are hip-hop fireballs.
KMD: Bl ck B st rds The rare great lost album that justifies its legend, this was held back by Elektra in 1993, supposedly due to the lynching cartoon on the cover, although the fading sales of conscious hip hop and the death by automobile of 20-year-old . SubRoc couldn't have helped. Not quite great, maybe; slightly dated, even. But it moves more confidently than 1991's Mr. Hood, and confident movement freshens the St. Ides and Somalia references decisively
