A Night at the Opera is a 2002 album by the German power metal band Blind Guardian. It is named after the 1975 Queen album of the same name, which is itself named after the Marx brothers film of the same name. This album continues a stylistic change from power metal into a more progressive sound, with multiple overlaid vocals, choirs, orchestral keys and guitar leads and less emphasis on powerful guitar riffs and heavy rhythms.

A Night at the Opera (Remastered 2017). I recently just got into Blind Guardian with the release of the 2007 Remasters of their first 7 albums (not including the Tokyo Tales one), and I've come to really appreciate the mix of soaring power metal interlaced with medieval guitar solos. Ironically, this was the last album I ended up receiving.

Not as aggressive as Imaginations From the Other Side ( Which of course I find sad as I love aggressive music) and much more bombastic than Nightfall in Middle-Earth. But overall it�s the most symphonic and progressive album Blind Guardian has made so far. The style is German Heavy Metal ( at this point there is not much power metal left in my opinion) with folky and symphonic tendencies. When I first listened to A Night at the Opera I was completely overwhelmed by the many layers in the music. There are just so many things going on under the lead melody that you really have to concentrate to appreciate this fully. Let me warn you that if you like your music mellow and subtle, stay away from this one, as A Night at the Opera might be the most symphonic and bombastic album I have ever heard.

A Night at the Opera is Blind Guardian’s most recent studio album. Some people consider it there best, but I find that there is just so much that it can be overwhelming for people who are new to power metal. ANATO starts of with "Precious Jerusalm" wich begins with kind of a jazzy feeling with drums pounding until Hansi comes in singing/whispering a few words and then singing a few lines of chorus before the drums switch to a new pattern that slowly builds in intensity. Sadly Sing Destiny" which starts out with a very 80’s metal kinda cheesy intro that seems out of place in a Blind Guardian album. Lucky it doesn’t last long until we are back to Blind Guardians bread and butter of which is slow building choruses that explode into angelic singing by Hansi and fast drumming sprinkled with complimentary dueling guitars.
