Disco Not Disco is a compilation album from the Disco Not Disco series released by Strut Records in 2000. The album is a probe to experimental side of disco and punk genres and underground music scene in general. The first volume is more rock and funk oriented and features three experimental studio projects by Arthur Russell, namely Dinosaur, Indian Ocean and Loose Joints, British new wave musician Ian Dury, and even musicians like Yoko Ono, Steve Miller Band or jazz trumpeter Don Cherry.

Disco was a joke by 1979, and the punchline consisted of backlash against mainstream artists who had embraced it, quickly disappearing sales and fanbases, even public events destroying the trappings of it with the kind of disdain and hatred usually reserved for censorship targets or fake Grammy winners. But let’s not get it twisted: The legacy of disco lives on and lives strong, because from these origins sprung references to and influences on everything from post-punk to DJ culture to modern rock.

by Earth, Wind And Fire Tribute Band. Let's Groove by Earth, Wind And Fire Tribute Band. They should be called "Tribute bands do 80s Disco" clearly on the front. This should be referred to Trading Standards for being TOTALLY misleading. Nowhere does it CLEARLY state, before purchase, that it is tribute bands and the price itself does not reflect this. I was alerted because I thought the recording of the very first one was sub-standard - truly awful.

At the Disco Albums I simply cannot get enough of this album.

City pop can sound like anything from soft, album-oriented rock to sophisticated boogie disco, yet the term is often used in a narrow sense in Japan. It’s an established genre, and city pop records have been compiled in many published guide books for collectors. Outside of Japan, city pop might be viewed as general 1980s Japanese music, and now that Japanese music has become trendy, city pop has begun to be uncovered and even reissued. Everything about this entire album is city pop, from the music to the LP art. Makoto Matsushita’s first album depicts an urban story in the summer. This is brown-eyed soul-Japanese AOR.
