Home Plate is the fifth album by Bonnie Raitt, released in 1975. What Do You Want the Boy to Do?" (Allen Toussaint) – 3:19. Good Enough" (John Hall, Johanna Hall) – 2:56. Run Like a Thief" (. Fool Yourself" (Fred Tackett) – 3:04. My First Night Alone Without You" (Kin Vassy) – 3:07. Walk Out the Front Door" (Mark T. Jordan, Rip Stock) – 3:09. Sugar Mama" (Delbert McClinton, Glen Clark) – 3:45. Pleasin' Each Other" (Bill Payne, Fran Tate) – 3:44.

On Home Plate, the sound is rich and full, and producer Paul Rothchild has used horns and vocal choirs extensively but not gratuitously. Although the approach is more pop oriented than previous efforts for Bonnie Raitt, her own style isn't cramped in the process. She sings as well as ever and, as her voice continues to mature, maintains more control over it without blunting the jagged edge that makes her so effective.

Perhaps that's because producer Paul A. Rothchild has helped Raitt craft a record that's unapologetically pitched at the mainstream, where Streetlights often seemed to be torn between two worlds. The great thing about that is, regardless of the production, the essentials of Raitt's music have not changed.

Bonnie Lynn Raitt (born November 8, 1949) is an American blues singer, guitarist, songwriter, and activist. During the 1970s, Raitt released a series of roots-influenced albums that incorporated elements of blues, rock, folk and country. In 1989, after several years of critical acclaim but little commercial success, she had a major hit with the album Nick of Time.
