Paper Airplane is an album by Alison Krauss and Union Station. It was released on April 12, 2011 and marks Krauss's fourteenth album and her first release with Union Station since Lonely Runs Both Ways in 2004. It includes cover versions of "My Opening Farewell" and "Dimming of the Day", which were originally recorded by Jackson Browne and Richard Thompson, respectively.

Coming after the high-profile success of Raising Sand, Krauss’ collaboration with Robert Plant, Paper Airplane reunites Krauss with her old band Union Station for tunes that are often somber either in tone or in theme. Robert Lee Castleman’s country ballad, Paper Airplane, opens the album and sets the tone. Peter Rowan’s Dust Bowl Children, with Dan Tyminki on vocals, works on the uptick and Lie Awake keeps an easeful lope, but the tension is beginning to build as Krauss’ vocals indicate an emerging desperation.
