Released October 28, 1977. News of the World Tracklist. 1. We Will Rock You Lyrics. And so together Brian’s We Will Rock You and Freddie’s We Are the Champions became Queen’s reigning anthems that drove the sales of their blockbuster sixth studio album, News of the World, released October 28, 1977. As an album, it was a sonic departure from their previous work, with its generally louder, but more sparse and/or down-to-earth musical arrangements, more firmly rooted in the rock genre overall. It went on to become Queen’s most commercially successful album

News of the World opens with the stomping chant We Will Rock You, followed immediately by the rousing ballad We Are the Champions – the latter of which peaked at Number Two in the . and Number Four in the . as a single, though both songs were often played back to back on American radio. Now long established as jock jams classics, the songs were actually inspired by the band’s fans, specifically those who gave Queen a particularly warm and rowdy reception during a show at Stafford’s Bingley Hall on May 29th, 1977 Despite their reputation for studio excess, Queen recorded and mixed News of the World in a relatively short period of time, taking only 10 weeks to complete the LP. (A Day at the Races had taken five months.

When it was released in 1977, News of the World seemed at loggerheads with a music world that had moved beyond Queen's operatic pomprock and on to punk. In fact, the album was more in step with the punk scene than the output of most superstar acts of the time, as it contains Roger Taylor's furious "Sheer Heart Attack" and Freddie Mercury's lean, brutal "Get Down, Make Love. Of course, News is famous for its opening medley, "We Will Rock You/We Are the Champions

utin' in the street, gonna take on the world some day You got blood on your face, your big disgrace Wavin' your banner all over the place. We will, we will rock you We will, we will rock you. Buddy, you're an old man, poor man Pleadin' with your eyes, gonna make you some peace someday You got mud on your face, your big disgrace Somebody better put you back into your place. We are the champions, my friend And we'll keep on fighting 'till the end We are the champions, we are the champions No time for losers 'cause we are the champions of the world. We are the champions, my friend And we'll keep on fighting 'till the end We are the champions, we are the champions No time for losers 'cause we are the champions.

News of the World is the sixth studio album by English rock band Queen, released in 1977. Containing hit songs "We Will Rock You" and "We Are the Champions" and "Spread Your Wings", the album went platinum in the United Kingdom, four times platinum in the United States and achieved high certifications elsewhere throughout the world also. News of the World was the second album to be produced solely by the band (the first being A Day at the Races) and was recorded at Sarm West and Wessex Studios, England and co-produced and engineered by Mike Stone.

You must be nuts mate! Most of it is very poor, unlike other Queen albums which are solid gold (Sheer Heart Attack) or mostly solid gold (e.g. A Night At The Opera).
