Veeder Van Dorn:- "The Byrds parked their tour bus at the Moonraker's bass player's parents house for a few hours while they prepared for the concert, but when they all arrived at the Amusement Park, Joel's hair was dyed orange and he was mumbling 'the colors are flowing. Denver’s Moonrakers released several secular 45’s in the ‘60s, but this is their only album. Some of the standouts here include the funky ‘Love Train’ and ‘Together with Him’, but the shining star is ‘Not Hiding Anymore’, an energetic tuneful song with a very strong chorus and some wailin’ fuzzy lead!!

Moonrakers is the colloquial name for people from Wiltshire, a county in the West Country of England. This name refers to a folk story set in the time when smuggling was a significant industry in rural England, with Wiltshire lying on the smugglers' secret routes between the south coast and customers in the centre of the country. The story goes that some local people had hidden contraband barrels of French brandy from customs officers in a village pond.
Basically, MOONRAKER is a remake of YOU ONLY LIVE TWICE and THE SPY WHO LOVED ME. I always preferred MOONRAKER over the schintzy SPY WHO LOVED ME, which was made just before this one. Lewis Gilbert directed those three Bond films and MOONRAKER is his crowning achievement. Personally speaking, Gilbert is a bad director. His films are always bloated and sorta soulless and yet still gorgeous. Aside from his Bond films, he rarely made an impression with his other films. In fact, he’s the one who directed THE ADVENTURERS, which is a good looking film but it’s really, really awful.
