Sir Thomas Jones Woodward, KBE (born 7 June 1940), best known by his stage name, Tom Jones, is a Welsh pop singer particularly noted for his powerful voice. He was born in Treforest, near Pontypridd in South Wales. He rose to fame in the mid-1960s, with an exuberant live act which included wearing tight breeches and billowing shirts, in an Edwardian style popular amongst his peers at the time.

Tom Jones, real name Thomas John Woodward KBE (born 7 June 1940), is a Welsh singer whose career has spanned six decades, from his emergence as a vocalist in the mid-1960s with a string of top hits, regular touring, appearances in Las Vegas (1967–2011), and career comebacks. Jones's powerful voice has been described as a "full-throated, robust baritone". His performing range has included pop, rock, R&B, show tunes, country, dance, soul and gospel.

Lyrics for I (Who Have Nothing) by Tom Jones  .

In 1964, the then Tommy Scott & The Squires, met Gordon Mills (2), who became Tom's manager from 1964-1986. Mills also wrote and scored the first of Jones' many Transatlantic top 10 hits, "It's Not Unusual". From 1969 until 1971, Jones had an internationally successful television show, This Is Tom Jones. Though his record sales tailed off during the mid-1970's, peaking in 1971 with his only US No. 1 hit, "She's A Lady", he remained a huge draw as a live performer. In 1970, Jones was the first solo performer to sell out Madison Square Garden.
