Kenny were an English pop and glam rock band who had several hit singles in the UK in the mid-1970s, including "The Bump" and "Fancy Pants". In 1973, Irish showband singer Tony Kenny, former lead singer with The Sands and The Vampires, recorded a single "Heart of Stone", written by Bill Martin and Phil Coulter and produced by Mickie Most. It was released under the name Kenny, and, after the singer returned to Ireland, the single became a hit in Britain, as did a follow-up release, "Give It To Me Now".

Born blind, Hall took up the mandolin and fiddle while a student at the California School for the Blind in Berkeley. This was in the early to mid-40s, and he soon began specializing in folk music, especially that of the south-eastern states. In the mid-60s he formed his Sweet’s Mill String Band, which was based near Fresno, California. Among early members of the band were Ron Tinkler (banjo), Jim Ringer (guitar), Harry Liedstrand (fiddle), Cary Lung (mandolin), and, on occasion, Larry Hanks (Jew’s harp).
The Osborne Brothers and Red Allen recorded it as "Down in the Willow Garden" in 1956 Ramblin' Jack Elliot released it as "In the Willow Garden" on his 1959 album Ramblin' Jack Elliott in London, Oscar Brand sang "The Willow Garden" on his 1962 live album Morality and the bluegrass duo Lester Flatt and Earl Scruggs recorded it as "Rose Connelly" for their 1965 album The Versatile Flatt & Scruggs.
