Description

Stretch/We Had It All. Scott Walker.

Stretch is the ninth studio album by the American solo artist Scott Walker. It was released in November 1973 but was unsuccessful on the music charts. No singles were released from the album. It was Walker's first solo album for CBS/Columbia records after departing from Philips Records. The majority of the songs recorded for the album were covers of old songs, some of which were by songwriters Walker had covered before such as Randy Newman and Jimmy Webb

We Had It All is the tenth studio album by the American solo artist Scott Walker. It was released in August 1974 but was unsuccessful on the music charts. It was Walker's final solo album for ten years, in the interim Walker reformed The Walker Brothers. Four of the 10 songs on the album were written by Billy Joe Shaver and had previously appeared on Waylon Jennings's 1973 Outlaw country album Honky Tonk Heroes.

This remastered CD combines two albums of Scott Walker: The album Stretch (tracks 1 to 11) was previously released by CBS in 1973. The album We Had It All (tracks 12 to 21) was previously released by CBS in 1974. Both albums were originally recorded at Nova Sound, London. Remastered at Sound Recording Technology, Cambridge 1997. Don't Ask the Hosts You'd Prefer. Enjoy what you take don't moan and grumble at something you get for free!! Scott Walker-1967-1984.

Although the album is still a little musically tentative, and while it is a disappointment to hear no new original material from Walker, We Had It All is his strongest record in years, since the country leanings are a welcome change of pace and he sings with authority throughout the record.

Scott Walker We Had It All (CBS, 1973). Years later, Walker blocked the CD re-release, yet he allowed through 1973’s second Walker album, Stretch (after Scott’s nickname), this time more of a solid track selection (songs by Newman, Jimmy Webb, Micky Newbury, Carole King and Gerry Goffin), but no less depressing, as Scott phoned it in. Next up was (irony alert) We Had It All, more bloody covers, but it’s Scott’s first outright country music record – four songs were written by Texan Billy Joe Shaver, and there’s room for The Eagles’ ‘What Ever Happened to Saturday Night?’. Or, whatever happened to Scott Walker? But in the right mood,.
