The origins of this collaboration between the saxophone leads of Borbetomagus and Sonic Youth guitarist Thurston Moore are probably best left to be explained in the album's liner notes, written (surprisingly enough) by premier post-modern novelist Thomas Pynchon. While avid readers of modern literature will be impressed enough by that fact, there's also the music to think about. At over five tracks, the trio assembles driving textures of wailing sax and guitar resonance that manage to move into very abstract territory without ever truly sacrificing a sense of form.

In 1994, Moore teamed up with Greg Dulli of The Afghan Whigs, Don Fleming of Gumball, Mike Mills of . and Dave Grohl of Nirvana/Foo Fighters, to form the Backbeat Band, which recorded the soundtrack album to the movie Backbeat. In 1998 Moore played on the soundtrack of the film Velvet Goldmine as a member of Wylde Ratttz.
