The late, great Ritchie Valens. This is his version of the timeless classic, La Bamba
During this time, he had several hits, most notably "La Bamba", which he had adapted from a Mexican folk song. Valens transformed the song into one with a rock rhythm and beat, and it became a hit in 1958, making Valens a pioneer of the Spanish-speaking rock and roll movement.

Donna" is a song written by Ritchie Valens, featuring the 50s progression. The song was released in 1958 on Del-Fi Records. It was Valens' highest-charting single reaching No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart the following year. Stagger Lee by Lloyd Price was at number on. It was written as a tribute to his high school sweetheart Donna Ludwig. The song was recorded on December 16, 1958, at the Gold Star Studios in Los Angeles.
The ballad "Donna", an ode to Ritchie Valens' high school girlfriend, was the featured title on the original October 1958 release of this single, and reached in the Billboard Hot 100 in early 1959. The B-side, an upbeat, rock & roll reworking of the Mexican folk song "La Bamba", peaked at in 1959, but became the featured title on reissues after the success of a 1987 Ritchie Valens biopic of the same name. The soundtrack used a faithful cover by Los Lobos rather than Valens' original mono, unpolished recording.

Para bailar La Bamba Para bailar La Bamba se necesita una poca de gracia Una poca de gracia Pa' mi, pa' ti, y arriba, y arriba Y arriba y arriba Por ti seré, por ti seré, por ti seré. A traditional Mexican folk song adapted by Ritchie Valens in 1958. It was a Top 40 hit in the US charts at the time and is one of early rock-and-roll’s most well-known songs. It was one of the first US hits to be sung entirely in Spanish, as well as one of the first to successfully blend traditional Latin-American music with rock.
