The Howlin' Wolf Album is a 1969 album by Howlin' Wolf, with members of Rotary Connection as his backing band. It mixed blues with psychedelic rock arrangements of several of Howlin' Wolf's classic songs. Howlin' Wolf strongly disliked the album, which is noted on the album's cover. The album peaked at number 69 on Billboard magazine's Black Albums chart. In 1967, Marshall Chess formed Cadet Concept Records as a subsidiary of Chess Records

He grew to be a big man, standing six feet three inches, and in one song claimed to weigh 300 pounds of heavenly joy. Even his vast, guffawing laugh was enough to make you a shade uncomfortable: seconds later he’d be yelling into the mic with menace. You didn’t mess with Howlin’ Wolf. He grew up idolising Jimmie Rodgers, the country singer known as The Blue Yodeler; Wolf tried to copy him but his yodel turned out to be more of a howl. So Chess put him in the studio to record The Howlin’ Wolf Album, an outright psychedelic blues record.
