Antonín Dvořák's Serenade for Strings in E major (Czech: Smyčcová serenáda E dur), Op. 22, was composed in just two weeks in May 1875. It remains one of the composer's more popular orchestral works to this day. 1875 was a fruitful year for Dvořák, during which he wrote his Symphony No. 5, String Quintet No. 2, Piano Trio No. 1, the opera Vanda, and the Moravian Duets. These were happy times in his life. His marriage was young, and his first son had been born

Antonín Leopold Dvořák (1841–1904) was a Czech composer of romantic music, who employed the idioms and melodies of the folk music of Moravia and his native Bohemia. His works include operas, symphonic, choral and chamber music. His best-known works include his symphonic works (above all "New World Symphony"), Slavonic Dances, String Quartets, Concertos for cello (Concerto in B minor) and violin, oratorial compositions Requiem, Stabat Mater and Te Deum. Dvořák was born on 8th September 1841 in Nelahozeves, Czechia, near Prague, where he spent most of his life.

Antonín Dvořák wrote his Symphonic Variations on an Original Theme (Symfonické variace), Op. 70 in 1877. The piece was apparently written in respone to a challenge to write variations on a theme that didn't lend itself to that purpose (Dvořák used a theme oh his creation, the song Já jsem huslař) more Antonín Dvořák wrote his Symphonic Variations on an Original.

This album has received following awards: Cannes Classical Award (2003). The staple repertoire of Czech symphonic music, wherein the work of Antonín Dvořák (1841 - 1904) has constituted one of the essential parts if not the outright dominant one, simply has to figure in the catalogue of the premier Czech record label not onlyin its completeness, but also in state-of-the-art technological shape. Hence also Supraphon's standing policy of returning in more or less regular cycles to items already featured in its catalogue. Apart from the obvious ambition to obtain flawless soundand technical.
