Pontardulais Male Choir was established in 1960, under the leadership of the late Noel Davies MBE. It was borne out of the Pontarddulais Youth Choir which had become too old for youth competitions. The conductor was T. Hayden Thomas, . and the organist was Ivor Owen. The 10" LP contained Rhyd-y-Groes, Calon Lan,, Gracious Spirit of Thy Goodness, The Lord's My Shepherd, and "He That Shall Endure to the End" from Elijah. It was recorded by David Kent-Watson of Lawrence Recordings, later to become Cameo Classics.

The Calon Lân project has been set up to maintain and encourage an understanding of our local heritage. Pontardulais was a quiet remote hamlet for centuries. Sometime during the Middle Ages, a bridge was built across the River Loughor where Pontardulais is now located. The bridge was called Pontaberdulais. It was also known as Y Bont Fawr (The Great Bridge), giving a clue as to the origins of Pontardulais's modern nickname "The Bont". T. Haydn Thomas, Conductor, Pontarddulais Choral Society. David Vaughan Thomas, composer.
