Sylvester is the third studio album by Sylvester. It was his first disco album in the series of three that were recorded and released by Fantasy Records in the late 1970s. The album was issued with the alternative title Over and Over in France. Two singles were issued from the album.

The surprise about Sylvester's 1977 debut for Fantasy Records is how utterly conventional it sounds after hearing later Hi-NRG disco breakthroughs like "You Make Me Feel (Mighty Real). The outstanding opening track, a seven-minute cover of Ashford & Simpson's "Over and Over," features horn fills in the style of the Blackbyrds and the album's most propulsive disco beat, but after that classic the album quickly becomes a much more conventional R&B/soul record.

SYLVESTER (Author) Format: Vinyl. Sylvester had a wonderful falsetto voice that is carried along on the most infectious dance beats. In the late 1970s he was as popular as Donna Summer and ruled the dance charts. The two immortal dance tracks here are of course Dance (Disco Heat) and You Make Me Feel (Mighty Real). They are two of the most sublime dance tracks ever laid down: very melodic, hypnotic music with a gospel undertone.
