This video, from the Rockpalast Archive, captures Kraftwerk performing live, in 1970. The video captures a mixed media performance in Soest, Germany in the Winter of 1970. This is four years before they defined their sound and image with Autobahn.
Kraftwerk is the debut studio album by German electronic band Kraftwerk. It was released in Germany in 1970, and produced by Konrad "Conny" Plank. Chief Kraftwerk members Ralf Hütter and Florian Schneider used two drummers during the recording of the album; Andreas Hohmann and Klaus Dinger. Their playing provides the music with a rock edge.
In 1970 Kraftwerk played for the very first time live, and that was at Berlin’s techno club Tresor in Soest, a small town in West Germany. The rare recording which was hidden in the WDR archives is up on YouTube and can be viewed below. To be precise, the upload already happened on March 25th 2014, but has only gathered 6. 00 views so far, not much for such a historical document.

The Soest concert from 1970 which saw Kraftwerk as a trio (. Ralf Hütter – Hammond organ, Klaus Dinger – drums, Florian Schneider-Esleben – Flute).
