Days of Future Passed is the second album and first concept album by English prog rock band The Moody Blues, released in November 1967 by Deram Records. With its fusion of orchestral and rock elements, it has been cited as one of the first examples of progressive rock. The album was recorded at a time when the Moody Blues were suffering financial difficulties and lack of critical and commercial success.

Days Of Future Passed falls in and out of favor, certainly it’s a concerted cohesive dream, yet it stumbles, where like the abstract modern paintings, the album offered few places to rest, few places where one could be assured of their footing, other than the sections encompassing Tuesday Afternoon and Nights In White Sati. hich I forever thought of as Knights in. White Satin. The mastering is faithful to the original 1967 The Moody Blues With The London Festival Orchestra Conducted By Peter Knight (5) - Days Of Future Passed that I bought new as a kid. I just played back the rip files from both and keyed on Lunch and Tuesday Afternoon. With the proper tonearm angle tweaking, I could get them to sound virtually the same.

That's mostly because they came to this album with the strongest, most cohesive body of songs in their history, having spent the previous year working up a new stage act and a new body of material (and working the bugs out of it on-stage), the best of which ended up here.

The Second album by the Moody Blues, and their first concept album; actually, one of the first concept rock albums ever. It starts at pre-dawn with the orchestrated and narrated ‘overture’ The Day Begins through the lyrical Dawn is a Feeling, to the faster Another morning and the rocky lunch’s Peak Hour, slowing down with Tuesday afternoon and Evening Time to Get Away, switching to the heavier rhythm at The Sunset, and through Twilight Time to the most famous track – Nights in. Described as – one of the first pieces of heavily orchestrated, album-length psychedelic rock to come. Quite surprisingly, it only took three days to record this masterpiece, as Justin Hayward told Uncle Joe Benson from 10. The Sound from LA in 2014. Days of Future Passed Q&A.

Watch the Moody Blues perform Tuesday Afternoon in 1967. For the project, the band would supply 10 pop songs and a couple of brief poems; all five members had a hand in composing material for the album. Separately, Knight composed and arranged material for the London Festival Orchestra to play. A French 45 picture sleeve for Nights in White Satin  . Days of Future Passed is a brilliant album and to me, the best the Moodies ever released. Thank you so much for exploring this album in depth.

Days of Future Passed is the second album and first concept album by English rock band The Moody Blues, released in December 1967 on Deram Records. After two years performing as a struggling white R&B; band, The Moody Blues were asked by their record label in September 1967 to record an adaptation of Antonín Dvořák's Symphony No. 9 as a stereo demonstration record. Instead, the band chose to record an orchestral song cycle about a typical working day.

The Moody Blues' second album, 1967's Days of Future Passed, is considered a psychedelic rock. The Moody Blues: Justin Hayward - Acoustic and electric guitars, piano, keyboards, vocals. John Lodge - Bass guitar, electric guitar, vocals.
