Various - PC Music Volume 1 What are they trying to say, and how sincere is their message? These questions have often cropped up in responses to London-based label and collective PC Music. Plenty of music makes its way out into the world without ever having such questions asked of it. But from the start PC Music's members have made sound just a part of their toolkit. Presentation and persona have been wielded as readily as chords and melodies, inline with the art-school idea that pop isn't just a musical style, but a vessel for coded postures, statements and ideas  . Musically, PC Music tracks can read like vivid technical studies: Danny L Harle's "In My Dreams," for instance, gets interesting as its shiny synth chords begin to layer and arpeggiate, a careful exercise in prolonged gratification. PC Music Volume 1, which is billed as the label's first "official" release and contains nine of its best tracks to date, can be roughly split in two.

Disc number in the title: yes or no? It's common to have disc numbers in album titles. Here're a few examples from my own collection: 101 Party Hits (Disc One). All Things Must Pass (Disc 2). If you prefer a disc-oriented approach to your music collection, and are concerned about maintaining this integrity whichever music player you use, retaining the disc number in the album title is a good idea. This is also the most transferable solution because whichever player you use, or even file explorer you use, you will see the disc numbers. Adding relevant disc numbers to album titles is one way of denoting a multi disc album, and it's probably the most transferable way. But it's not the only way. It is also possible to use tags to describe a multi disc album. Why would you want to do this? Well, some people don't like the way disc numbers clutter album titles.
