Funk, rock and roll, and jazz have already been equally adapted towards the lovely jazz noises of Leslie Drayton’s trumpet. A founding person in Earth, Wind flow & Fireplace, Drayton continued to be engaged with a number of projects through the 1970s. In the middle-’80s, he extended his orchestra with the help of vocalist Barbara Morrison. He released What IT REALLY IS, Is What IT REALLY IS, in 1987 on Germany’s Ausverkau label. When his recording Midnight Rendezvous was declined by Isle in 1988, Drayton became therefore disillusioned that he relocated to Colorado. He released Unfinished Business on Ausverkau in 1990.

Mraz jason love is a four letter word. This album is definitely "toned down" compared to his previous albums. Not much funk, mostly slow acoustic songs, but Jason's voice and lyrics keep the songs from being run-of-the-mill 4/4 pop. (In fact, there's one song called 5/6 that plays with unusual time signatures. I'm not upset about the lack of fun in this album, because instead of fun there are a lot of feelings, reflections, and thought. Not that Jason's songs ever showed a lack of thought, of course
