A Cruel World is the debut album by New York alternative metal band Bloodsimple, released on March 29, 2005. In broad terms, Cruel World's songs can be seen as falling into one of two categories: brutal but commercially digestible hardcore ("Straight Hate", "Path to Prevail", "What If I Lost It", "Blood in Blood Out", "Cruel World", "Falling Backwards"), or Alice in Chains styled alternative metal ("Sell Me Out", "Running from Nothing", "Flatlined").

Lyrics on the album are mostly focused on Love and Depression for Love, a good lyrical theme if you are an Alternative act, the lyrics actually told me something, you don't have to give up if you want to reach something ), oh and yes I forgot to mention the strange Hidden Track of the Phone Conversation on the last track "Plunder", it actually made me laugh.
Cruel World, the band's debut, is also the first release from Mudvayne frontman Chad Grey's Bullygoat imprint (via Warner). In this way it's a pretty typical 2000s alternative metal record.
Bloodsimple was an American heavy metal band from the States. They recorded two studio albums and a bunch of demos. 180 gram audiophile vinyl.
Creating their own unique style of Metalcore mixed with Hard Rock and Nu-Metal, and with extremely political lyrics, Bloodsimple creates their very own Apocalypse America atmosphere. Pounding riffs mixed with harmonic melodies, politics and religion mixed with mental psychosis and self-sacrifice, Bloodsimple is the definition of originality amongst the usual not-so-original Metalcore scene.
