Loveland, Colorado - Willis Alan Ramsey is pleased to announce that he has secured funding to complete his long awaited follow-up album, with the working title Gentilly. Final pre-production began in early March, and he plans to release the new record in the coming year. Ramsey’s debut in 1972 earned scores of accolades from artists ranging from The Allman Brothers to Shawn Colvin. The album was mined by many artists for their own projects and performances, including Jimmy Buffett ( Ballad of Spider John ), Jimmie Dale Gilmore ( Goodbye Old Missoula ), Shawn Colvin ( Satin Sheets ), Captain & Tennille ( Muskrat Love/Candlelight ), Jerry Jeff Walker ( Northeast Texas Women ), Waylon Jennings ( Satin Sheets ), New Grass Revival ( Watermelon Man ).

Willis Alan Ramsey is the sole studio release by the Texas songwriter Willis Alan Ramsey. The album's genre is hard to categorize with touches of country, country rock, folk, and folk rock. The tunes range from the reflection and regret of "The Ballad of Spider John" to a heartfelt tribute to Woody Guthrie on "Boy from Oklahoma". It was recorded on Leon Russell's Shelter label in 1972, and Leon sat in on piano, keyboards, vibraphone. Other guest musicians include: Carl Radle, Jim Keltner, Red Rhodes and Russ Kunkel

Part of the mystique that has sprung up around Willis Alan Ramsey's debut album is that he dropped from sight after recording it (due to differences with his record company and a lack of enthusiasm for the realities of the music business), and has yet to release a follow-up, and it's hard to imagine anyone who has heard. it not hoping there's more where this came from. If your recording career was to be contained in a single album, though, you'd be very fortunate if it were as good as Willis Alan Ramsey.

As always, the only downside about playing Louisiana is the food; I just hope someday they’ll get their act together in that area. Special shout out to Jimmy Weatherford at Louie’s Café in Baton Rouge. the stage with the very talented Robert, again, as well.
