And the Circus Leaves Town is the fourth and final studio album by American stoner rock band Kyuss, released on July 11, 1995, nearly a year before their breakup. Drummer Alfredo Hernández (Yawning Man) replaces Brant Bjork, who left Kyuss in 1993. The album features a tighter and more straightforward sound, both in songwriting and production, than the band's preceding efforts.

Kyuss' fourth release is entitled. And the Circus Leaves Town, and apparently it took whatever it was that made their previous release so compelling with it. The band still opts for a bottom-heavy, filling-rattling assault, but they also try to create songs that aren't really there. Tracks like "Gloria Lewis" and "Phototropic" never seem to get started. There are still some worthy moments.

Kyuss’ fourth studio album was its last full-length before the band’s 15-year split, which found guitarist Josh Homme founding Queens of the Stone Age before performing with Eagles of Death Metal and Them Crooked Vultures (with Dave Grohl and John Paul Jones) And the Circus Leaves Town has aged remarkably well since its 1995 release. Hurricane opens, throwing sonic punches and sounding like a tougher sibling of Queens of the Stone Age. One Inch Man is even catchier and more simply arranged.

Kyuss: the little band that could (and almost did). After maintaining an underground fanbase and just beginning to break into the mainstream, the band finally began to recieve the recognition they rightly deserved. Their signature sound, call it 'desert rock' or 'stoner rock' or whatever you will, was attributed to their low sounding guitars, chaffing vocals and grossly underproduced albums  . was the fourth and final album released from the Kyuss catalogue. This album seems thought of by some as weak and uninventive. However, after repeated listens it is possibly my favourite album by them. There are two noticeable changes with this album.

Before Kyuss splintered and Josh Homme went on to form the equally brilliant Queens Of The Stone Age, the band released the excellent valedictory "And The Circus Leaves Town. For the most part, "And The Circus Leaves Town" is the kind of album you could play while kicking back with a beer on your porch and not annoy the neighbors. And since it's predecessors had more of a "play it in your car at full blast with your window rolled down so everyone in a quarter-mile radius can hear it and know you have better taste than they do" vibe, that's a pretty big departure. It's still stoner rock, but stoner rock of a somewhat different and less fearsome stripe.
