In February 2013, Darwin Deez released their second album titled Songs for Imaginative People and went on tour to support the album. Their latest album, 10 Songs That Happened When You Left Me with My Stupid Heart, was released in 2018. Chart Peak Positions.

The debut Darwin Deez album (the name applying to both band and frontman) won many friends in 2010 thanks to its quirky lead tracks Constellations and Radar Detector. But that album’s darker elements have been greater emphasised on this follow-up set. The band’s lo-fi charm is replaced by a less cohesive, more chaotic sound. The result is that, overall, Songs for Imaginative People is a far more challenging proposition than its sunny predecessor. Deez’s lyricism is often negative, if not nihilistic.

I fell instantly in love with Darwin Deez the moment i heard the first album. Everything about it was filled with a whimsical charm of carefree guitar playing, enjoyable soundscapes, and very dark lyrics that were made more effective with the happy music that lied behind them. But what the new single brought to me was a much more chaotic, less carefree sound. it was loud, still definitely Darwin Deez, but didn't have that instant charm and appeal that the debut did. I had this fear that maybe Darwin, with all the out of nowhere success that he had, maybe got a bit full of himself and was.

Songs For Imaginative People’, the second Darwin Deez record, is a natural progression from the first, as the band’s distinctively jangly, incessantly upbeat guitars are remodelled in increasingly eccentric ways. This album, Songs for Imaginative People, decides to steer clear into a separate route of pop music, completely unapologetic with it's spacey, dancy, and infectious all around. Not the exact sounds we heard from their debut, but all the less the same and just as intriguing.
