Frightened Rabbit have announced a new record where other artists cover the songs of their 2008 album The Midnight Organ Fight. The tribute LP features covers from Julien Baker, the National’s Aaron Dessner, Chvrches’ Lauren Mayberry, the Hold Steady’s Craig Finn, Benjamin Gibbard, and more. Below, listen to Julien Baker and Biffy Clyro’s versions of The Modern Leper. Scroll down for the tracklist and artwork, as well as a message from Frightened Rabbit. The songs on TINY CHANGES: A Celebration of Frightened Rabbit’s ‘The Midnight Organ Fight’ were recorded in 2018.

Before Frightened Rabbit founding member Scott Hutchison died, an idea was formed to celebrate 10 years of their seminal album 'The Midnight Organ Fight' by asking some of their talented buds in music to take a crack at their own versions of a song on the album. The whole album was recorded and was due to be released last summer, but then unfortunately Scott passed away last May. The band have decided they still want to release the record as a testament to the album, and to Scott. Frightened Rabbit are a Scottish indie rock band from Selkirk, formed in 2003. Initially a solo project.

The Midnight Organ Fight is the second studio album by Scottish indie rock band Frightened Rabbit, released April 15, 2008, on Fat Cat Records. Vocalist/guitarist Scott Hutchison describes the album as being "quite relationshippy" and "a lot more intense" than its predecessor Sing the Greys. Following the album's completion, it took a month for Hutchison to be able to listen to it. Lyrically, Hutchison states that "most of the lyrics are pretty direct" and that the album "almost spells out what’s happened

To celebrate everyone who had been a part of the last ten years of the band, Frightened Rabbit asked friends, past collaborators and peers to record their own interpretations of the album’s tracklist

The Frightened Rabbit frontman had sung about his depression ever since the band’s debut Sing the Greys, going so far as to discuss his thoughts toward suicide, a theme hauntingly prescient in the track ‘Floating in the Forth’ from the band’s sophomore The Midnight Organ Fight. But look: Scott was alive for ten years after The Midnight Organ Fight, and he’d been struggling with depression long before that.

There’s a track on Frightened Rabbit’s 2008 album The Midnight Organ Fight that must surely qualify as one of the most uplifting songs ever written about death. In it, the Scottish indie outfit’s frontman Scott Hutchison makes a pledge. Hutchison was the driving force behind this covers album, which takes its title from that lyric and finds the band’s friends recreating the entirety of The Midnight Organ Fight. Hutchison killed himself in May 2018: now the record serves as a tribute. Each track is performed by a different act – the National’s Aaron Dessner, Craig Finn of the Hold Steady and Josh Ritter among them. That Tiny Changes is an astoundingly good album is no huge surprise – its source material reverberates with brilliance.

Incredible pressing. Sounds phenomenal. Bass and drums really hit, and Scotts voice is right THERE.

My copy was shipped and bent in two places. Contacted Warner and they sent me a brand new one.

So my copy of this didn’t come with a lyric insert... is that unique to me or just how it was released?

Same here, no lyric insert on my 2018 release. Download code present and the inner sleeve is a nice anti-static one.

I had this same question when looking up my copy, but I think I figured it out. My copy has "FATX0070 A S-85187" and "FATX0070 B S-85188 salt" in the runout. This listing has "FATX0070" listed with the label at the top, while the other listing you posted on has "FATLP70" with the label at the top.

I have never been a huge fan of poetry, but sometimes you can listen to words without really understanding, and they sound good. This band should be at the top of the singles and album charts, although it could never be due to the language used. Songs are about Scottish life and are thoroughly uplifting. It seems that the raw songs have been processed by a team of American sound engineers (correct me if I'm wrong) which mixes the raw pathos of the draft music with a pop glaze, and the resultant mix occasionally tastes too rich (track 3) but overall works incredibly well. This is an album for the underground music lover who wants something he can play his friends, because this is accessible and powerful. It holds up fantastically to repeat listening and leaves you sated and happy that, yes, good music is still being made.
