Bootleg is the 1971 debut album from the Canadian blues group the Downchild Blues Band. Having been rehearsing and playing live shows since 1969, the band proceeded to create one of Canada's earliest independent records. Recorded over two nights in 1971 in a makeshift studio at Toronto's Rochdale College, Donnie Walsh and others distributed the album by hand.

Always known as The Downchild Blues Band’s original bass player. he was a founding member with Donnie Walsh and Richard Walsh (Hock) in 1969 and performed on the band& earliest recordings, Bootleg, Straight Up, Dancing, Ready To Go and So Far. His bass playing is featured on the Downchild classics, Flip, Flop & Fly, Shotgun Blues, (I& Got Everything I Need) Almost and many of the songs that gave the band its signature sound. Saw Downchild many times when I was a teenager in Ottawa, Ontario. My family moved to Halifax, . when I was 17 and I went to see them at the Misty Moon when it was on Gottingen St. I was standing at the bar during the first break when Don Walsh ("Mr. Downchild") recognised me and invited me backstage to meet the band haha.
