Carl Weingarten is an American guitarist, photographer, and founder of the independent music label Multiphase Records. Regarded as "one of the truly great indie musicians working today" by the San Francisco Chronicle, he is best known for his atmospheric sound and use of the slide guitar and Dobro. Weingarten has played a significant role in progressive underground music for nearly 30 years".

On Critical Path, we find a collaboration with Joe Venegoni, who adds a whole new element with his imposing yet well-placed hammer dulcimer. Joe Venegoni – producer, award-winning composer, and master percussionist-is regarded as one of the most innovative artists performing today. He has received international critical acclaim on the Multiphase and Water Lily Acoustics record labels. As a composer, Venegoni has created scores for the who’s who of dance companies and independent choreographers including Sue Li-Jue’s Facing East Dance and Music, Robert Moses’ Kin, Janice Garrett, Kulintang Arts, Arturo Fernandez’s Left Coast Dance, and the Gash/Voight Dance Theatre. In 1999, he received the Isadora Duncan Dance Award (Izzies) for Best Ensemble Performance, recognizing his work with dance artist Robert Moses and cellist Dan Reiter. He also received an Izzies nomination for his performance in Pai Gow Potluck, from Facing East Dance and Music's Rice Women.
