Erase Me is the eighth album by American rock band Underoath. It is their first album in eight years following Ø (Disambiguation) (2010), marking the longest gap between two studio albums in the band's career, and their first one with founding drummer and clean vocalist Aaron Gillespie since Lost in the Sound of Separation (2008). It was recorded in mid-2017 with Matt Squire and mixed by Ken Andrews. The album was released via Fearless Records on April 6, 2018.
Released April 6, 2018. 1. It Has to Start Somewhere Lyrics. Erase Me is the highly anticipated comeback album from metalcore champions Underoath. After a lengthy hiatus, they returned to the stage for limited appearances beginning in 2015, including a special 10 year anniversary tour of Define The Great Line and They’re Only Chasing Safety. This started rumours of a new album, but the band never confirmed anything. A viral marketing campaign began on February 20, 2018, with a neon yellow campaign and audio clips being sent to random fans. It was confirmed in media releases that the new album was set to release in early April.
Underoath have produced the most important album of their careers. It’s not their best – for my money that’s Define the Great Line or Ø (Disambiguation), though time will certainly tell; nor is it necessarily perfect. However, it light of everything the band have been through personally and professionally, it feels like the most honest and triumphant album of their careers. It’s impossible to separate nostalgia and narrative from any discussion of this improbably (and convincing) comeback album, but Erase Me has shattered expectations, even if Underoath have taken quite a few lovely left turns. It’s passionate, powerful, and full of those stomach-lurching moments of greatness that create lasting musical memories. In short, despite some obvious changes, Underoath are absolutely back and are forging their own wonderful path forward.

Erase Me (2018) by Underoath. Labels: Fearless Records. Genres: Alternative Rock, Post-Hardcore. Songs: It Has to Start Somewhere, Rapture, On My Teeth, Wake Me, Bloodlust, Sink With You. . Underoath Discography.
Yes, Erase Me also features more singing and less metalcore than has been standard in Underoath's career, but it straddles Sleepwave's experimentations, landing on the catchier side ("Rapture," "Wake Me"), more energetic side ("It Has to Start Somewhere," "Hold Your Breath") or somehow pushing both extremes ("In Motion," "Sink With You"). There's still a couple of tracks that need to grow on me, but overall Erase Me is a great album. It's jarring, going from Disambiguation or any of their older stuff to this, but I feel like it's one of those things you just have to get used to. People and opinions change over time, so it's understandable that after 8 years (10 if you count the current lineup), the band would have a major sound shift. Hopefully for the people like me who have bad first impressions, fall in love with this record over multiple listening sessions. 0 of 0 users found this helpful.
Underoath – Erase Me. It Has to Start Somewhere 2. Rapture 3. On My Teeth 4. Wake Me 5. Bloodlust 6. Sink With You 7. ihateit 8. Hold Your Breath 9. No Frame 10. In Motion 11. I Gave U. Lurching back into view, Underoath’s surprise return hits hard with opener It Has To Start Somewhere. Juddering riffs and Spencer Chamberlain’s seared vocals fight for space amongst the atmospherics that once helped the Florida troupe stand out from the pack, to gripping effect. Elsewhere, though, Erase Me highlights how modern metalcore has leapfrogged its forebears. Wake Me and ihateit channel the huge, arena-ready pop-metal of modern-day Bring Me The Horizon, a band who once cited Underoath as an influence, and nowadays headline above them.
