Mud In Your Ear has been added to your Cart. The bass and drums are solid throughout, adding accents and runs in all the right places while laying down the Muddy Waters Blues Band's signature thick grooves. Muddy himself adds slide to one slow blues, but does no vocals. Just great - maybe I have grown, but I did not remember liking this as much circa 1980 when I first purchased the LP's (the cd format covers two lp's). This album is a little misleading as I believe Muddy Waters produced it and may have played on some of it, but there is none of Muddy's distinctive vocals. However, it is an excellent recording of Chicago blues and is well priced.

This is a mispress of the Muddy Waters album. The labels are correct for the "Mud In Your Ear" release, however Side One features the first side of "Magazine" from the rock group Heart. The matrix numbers on the run-off groove for Side One are consistent with those of Side One of "Magazine", and is therefore a mistake at the pressing plant. The Notes above say "Side One features the first side of 'Magazine' from the rock group Heart. That record wasn't issued till 1977; this pressing says it's 1973. There's an error in here somewhere. Either the content of the record or the pressing/release date is wrong. Reply Notify me Helpful.

Mud in Your Ear. 1973. In a perhaps misguided attempt to hook Muddy Waters up with the young audience that was into the psychedelic blues rock of Jimi Hendrix, Cream, and others at the time, Chess Records released Electric Mud in 1968. Electric Mud, which was either great or a complete disaster, depending on one's tolerance for certain things, didn't fare that well commercially, but it did toss Waters' name out there in the rock world. Waters cut two albums the next year for Alan Douglas, who had produced both Last Poets and Hendrix, and was known to have an edgy approach to things in the studio.
