Derek Taylor (7 May 1932 – 8 September 1997) was an English journalist, writer and publicist, best known for his work as press officer for the Beatles. He started his career as a local journalist in Liverpool aged 17 working for the Hoylake and West Kirby Advertiser followed by the Liverpool Daily Post and Echo before becoming a North England-based writer for national British newspapers that included the News Chronicle, the Sunday Dispatch and the Sunday Express. He also served as a regular columnist and theatre critic for the Daily Express from 1952. Posthumous volumes include Beatles (Ebury Press 1999). In addition, an audio CD, Here There and Everywhere: Derek Taylor Interviews The Beatles, was released on the Thunderbolt label in 2001. Derek Taylor died of cancer on 8 September 1997.
In series of radio publicity interviews conducted in 1965 in the Bahamas, Derek Taylor talks to the Beatles on the set of their second film, Help. Taylor had just resigned as the band's press officer to start his own publicist's business (he would resume his position in 1968, working for Apple Corps), but his friendly rapport with the four, whom he had known since their early .
Here, There And Everywhere (оригинал The Beatles). Здесь, там и повсюду (перевод Lisa). Here, making each day of the year. Здесь, делая меня счастливым каждый день года, Changing my life with a wave of her hand. Изменяя мою жизнь взмахом своей руки, Nobody can deny that there's something there. There, running my hands through her hair.
Here, There and Everywhere. Produced by George Martin. Here, There and Everywhere Lyrics. To lead a better life I need my love to be here. Here, making each day of the year Changing my life with the wave of her hand Nobody can deny that there's something there. There, running my hands through her hair Both of us thinking how good it can be Someone is speaking but she doesn't know he's there. Often citing Brian Wilson’s God Only Knows from the Beach Boys' album Pet Sounds as the main source of inspiration for his timeless ballad, it was the Beatles' Rubber Soul album, issued in December 1965, that itself was the main influence for Wilson’s innovative Pet Sounds released in May 1966. Paul McCartney, lead vocal/guitar/bass John Lennon, vocal George Harrison, guitar/vocal Ringo Starr, drums.
After the dissolution of the Beatles, he continued to engineer for Paul McCartney, as well as artists such as Elvis Costello, America, Jeff Beck, and Art Garfunkel. He has won four Grammy Awards, including a Technical Grammy Award in 2003. Geoff Emerick’s Here, There and Everywhere is a fascinating book for any Beatles fan and I would recommend it, though it is not without its problems. Emerick had the opportunity to be the proverbial fly on the wall pretty much throughout the entire Beatles recording odyssey, starting initially as an underling in the early sessions and eventually becoming the recording engineer by the time of the Revolver sessions. He quit early on in the making of the White Album, amidst the well-documented acrimony in the studio, but later returned for Abbey Road.
Taylor was The Beatles’ press officer in 1964 and Apple Records Lt. s press officer between 1968 and 1970. In between, he represented many California-based acts including the Beach Boys, the Byrds and the Mamas and the Papas. He continued to work with The Beatles in the 1980s and 1990s, particularly on the Anthology book and film project. He authored six books; As Time Goes By was the first. From the announcement: As Time Goes By is primarily about The Beatles and Apple but it also takes in Taylor’s sojourn in radical mid-sixties Los Angeles.
