A good companion piece to Strummin' Mental! vol. 5 and Ho-dad Hootennany. Side 1 is a bunch of beer-soaked frat-house thumpers with the delicate and sophisticated vocals of The Scotsmen kicking off proceedings in high style with Beer Bust Blues (you can hear the flip Scotch Mist on the Get Hip comp The Electras, Victors, Scotsmen album by the way)- this one here - http://www.discogs.com/Electras-Scotsmen2-Victors-The-The-Best-Of-The-Electras/release/3672475All the tracks on side 1 follow this example with a whole load of ugly, alcohol-addled monsters. I must admit to a fondness for the Mike Evans track - un-pc as hell - being a Gloria re-write and basically a comedy routine about how ugly the lead singer's girlfriend is ("what's that all over her face? Friends - it's her nose").Side 2 brings us a different mix of (mainly) guitar instruments, most in the surf idiom. The Motivations' The Birds has a shrieking electronic noise going through it.... like a bird attack (obviously a Hitchcock cash-in). Lovely stuff. All the tracks are top quality early/mid 60s teen scuzz and obviously compiled by somebody who loved the music and knew what he was doing.
