Blues harp maestro James Cotton was 77 at the time of this album's release. He can barely sing anymore, and the years of playing and touring have left his voice a hoarse croak, but make no mistake, he can still play the harp, and his stunning, overdriven blasts on the instrument are as powerful and as immediate as ever.

Cotton Mouth Man, newest release from James Cotton, is a rare treasure. The collection is a reminder of the power that post-war Chicago brought in transforming a rural folk idiom, and brings a vivid, personal expression of the joys and shadows familiar to an artist who made that trip from the rural South to Chicago and then to the world over nearly 60 years.
Cotton Mouth Man. Recorded in Nashville and produced by Grammy-winning drummer Tom Hambridge (Buddy Guy, Joe Louis Walker, Susan Tedeschi), the album is a riveting, good-time musical journey through sounds and scenes from Cotton's long and storied career. World-renowned blues harp icon is joined by special guests Gregg Allman, Joe Bonamassa, Ruthie Foster, Delbert McClinton, Warren Haynes and Keb Mo for a joyous collection of raucous boogies, sunny country blues and brash Chicago shuffles inspired by Cotton's colorful and sometime perilous life
13 BONNIE BLUE James Cotton - Harmonica, Vocals Colin Linden - Resonator Guitar. I feel so happy about the music in this album and I'd like everyone who listens to it to know how it came about and to thank everyone involved with it. The blues is all about feeling-if I don't feel it, I can't play it. My hope is that everyone who listens feels it. I know I sure did! Making this album was a new experience for me. Tom Hambridge and Richard Fleming wrote a song named Cotton Mouth Man. I really liked it. Tom said that he wanted to be my producer and make an album about my life.
