Pacific Mambo Orchestra is a Latin dance music orchestra based in the San Francisco Bay Area. Their debut album was released in October 2012, and they received a Grammy Award for the album at the 56th Annual Grammy Awards. The Pacific Mambo Orchestra was founded in 2010 by Mexican Pianist Christian Tumalan and German Trumpeter Steffen Kuehn, and is a 19-piece Latin Big Band orchestra that plays salsa, Latin Jazz, cha cha cha, bachata, and other Latin music.

The music of Latin America refers to music originating from Latin America, namely the Romance-speaking countries and territories of the Americas and the Caribbean south of the United States. Latin American music also incorporates African music from slaves who were transported to the Americas by European settlers as well as music from the indigenous peoples of the Americas.

It was American folk singer Pete Seeger who took the humble acoustic tune to new heights, when he adapted it and recorded it live at Carnegie Hall in 1963. The Sandpipers' 1966 version reached the top 10 of Billboard’s Hot 100 chart. With its hard-hitting sound and fast tempos suited for Cali’s brazen dancers, Grupo Niche redefined the sound of salsa, lending it a distinctly Colombian imprint.

Learn Latin Dance tempos from the experts at AMDS! No matter what tempo you choose, you come out a winner! . So with all this variation, which Latin dance tempos are ideal? Well, it depends on a lot of things but here are a few general guidelines that will get you in the right ballpark. There are two styles of Cha Cha: International and American. The dance’s tempo varies according to style. In the International Style, it is danced to 124 beats per minute while the American style is danced to 120 beats per minute. The Mambo is a high-energy, Cuban-style dance with a catchy rhythm. Because of its exaggerated hip movement points, rock steps and side steps, and kicks and flicks of the feet, the dance has a sensual feel and an expressive touch. It is danced to a wide range of tempos with a 4/4 rhythm.
