From Silence' has recently celebrated its 30th anniversary, and the album can now be purchased again in this deluxe remastered 3 CD set that adds an additional two discs of lengthy droning compositions from Mr Roach in the same manner that serve as fine albums in their own right. Newcomers to the progressive electronic/ambient genres may find this one a little uneventful and monotonous, but patient listeners or established fans of this type of music will likely find it completely enveloping. Unhurried and ever-unfolding, this defining work creates an intoxicating, serene.

From romantic sitar on "Socha Socha" to light, delicate vocals on "Ocean of Love," and ranging across multiple continents for musical origins, Ancient Future's Planet Passion album offers a lot to be enthusiastic about. The band is the longest-performing world fusion group, having formed in 1978, yet they retain their inventiveness in developing new sound and style melds.

The music includes live versions of several tracks from 1987, plus Whitesnake classics Slide It In, Love Ain’t No Stranger, and Slow An’ Easy. An additional disc spotlights the creative process behind WHITESNAKE 1987 with a selection of 11 unreleased demo and rehearsal recordings, including early versions of nearly every song on the album called 87 Evolutions. The final disc introduces newly remixed versions the album’s four singles, and includes rare radio mixes, as well as songs from 87 Versions, an EP released exclusively in Japan.

The set includes a remastered version of the original album, which has sold more than 10 million copies since its 1985 debut. The set also features various b-sides and more than two dozen rare and unreleased demos. Also featured is a full version of the album in early and alternate mixes. Unheard and all released for the first time.

This is a fantastically catchy album, and a shining example of alternative power pop. It's a great concoction, brewed up with equal parts jangle pop (i.e. Murmur era R.E.M.) and angsty punk rock energy (i.e. Let It Be era Replacements). Bit of americana-twang to it as well. The vocals are very deep, and it's got a very Beatles-influenced vibe about it (very catchy chorus's and lots of howling & wailing).
