Treehouse is the debut studio album by American electronic dance music duo Sofi Tukker. It was released on April 13, 2018 through Ultra Records. This is the duo of Tucker Halpern and Sophie Hawley-Weld’s second nomination following a Best Dance Recording nomination for their debut single Drinkee in 2017. Treehouse received great acclaim for its genre-defying sound, vibrant melodies, and themes of inclusivity and self-empowerment.

Sofi Tukker's Treehouse is a really funny and colorful dance-house pop album, full of tropical vibes and very influenced by brazilian music (they sing in portuguese in some songs). All the songs are nice, but the album gets tiring at some point and it keeps going to a good song to a just ok song. Favs: Fuck They, Batshit, My Body Hurts and Baby I'm a Queen.

Treehouse paints a creative soundscape of Sofi Tukker's musical collection, ranging from pop-friendly to a more personal touch. Not only have they dropped a ton of new music, but they're also been busy on the road as well - headlining bus tours and even performed at Lolapalooza in Sao Paulo, Brazil. We got a chance to catch up with them before their performance at The Fox Theater in Oakland where Sofi Tukker discusses the inspiration for their debut album, ideas behind their recent music videos and what the band is up to next. How has this year been so far? Tukker: It's been. Tukker: It's our first album ever. It's really exciting and it was a cool experience to produce. We've never put out a work of music where it could really show a bunch of different sides of us. It's not just singles. It's songs that we wouldn't release otherwise besides being on an album.

Like the Chainsmokers, Sofi Tukker spent the years preceding the release of their debut realizing and honing their sound across a series of singles, remixes, and digital EPs. Treehouse nudges the pair away from the underground club fare of 2016’s Soft Animals EP and in a more obvious pop direction. There’s nothing quite as ambitious as the Grammy-nominated Drinkee or as ruminative as Moon Tattoo here. The album’s lyrics, often adapted from the works of Brazilian poets like Paulo Leminski, can feel repetitive, and the influence of other artists too apparent: Calvin Harris on My Body Hurts, Dr. Luke-era Kesha on Good Time Girl, and a deadpan nod to Right Said Fred’s I’m Too Sexy on the bass-driven Batshit that makes Taylor Swift’s .
