Heat, Offshore Drift. A reissue of some classic jungle from here. Wax Doctor was a celebrated producer back in the 90s, scoring releases on labels including Metalheadz and R&S. The latter are now setting two of his most celebrated dubs to wax once more. This is drum and bass with a great sense of texture and compositional clarity. The breaks are crisp, the bass is neatly poised between weighty and floaty, and the harmonic and melodic choices have a beautiful dreamy quality to them. Indeed, if you slowed down the tempos, the pads and piano lines here could pass for Balearic house tunes.
