The album itself juxtaposed images of indigenous African religion, especially in the tracks Exikwembu' (It's God); 'Call of the Spirits'; and Meropa Badimo' (Drums of the Spirits), with the ritual symbolism of birth, rites of passage, African solidarity, celebration and the affirmation of individual and social African identity. It was the band's overt and radical African political leanings that ruled out most of the financially lucrative venues for MALOPOETS.

Malopoets has been played on NTS in shows including The Do!! You!!! Breakfast Show w/ Charlie Bones, featured first on 12 July 2016. Songs played include Xinkhongolotwana and Sound Of The People. World beat music from South Africa. Italian DJ, producer & Blackest Ever Black affiliate Silvia Kastel transmits an array of fringe electronics & contemporary club sounds every month.

THE MALOPOETS, a South African band from Soweto, played bouyant music Wednesday and Thursday at Sounds of Brazil. Their music calls for a little translation. Umbaqanga (''township pop'') uses warm, major-key vamps and gently infectious rhythms; on top of the beat, often, are velvety three- and four-part vocal harmonies derived from Zulu traditions. Thursday's early set, which began and ended with unaccompanied group singing, maintained a light, engaging lilt, with understated percussion below intertwining guitar riffs and bass lines. But when Pat Sefolosha, the band's saxophonist and lead singer, introduced the Malopoets' songs, they turned out to be prayers for families torn apart through South Africa's resettlement policies, or exhortations to ''fight for your rights.

Jeopardy is the debut studio album by English post-punk band the Sound, released on 1 November 1980 by record label Korova. The album fared poorly commercially, but received critical acclaim. One single, "Heyday", was released from the album. Following their 1979 EP Physical World, the band started work on a full-length album. Impressed by the rough mixes, Korova signed the group.
