The Blues' originated as a style of local folk music from around the Mississippi Delta as the 20 th Century began. By the end of the decade, most of these important players had made records, and in the 30s Johnson himself revolutionised the Blues with his exuberant, polyrhythmic guitar style, and his songs provided a 'blueprint' for future generations. As African-Americans moved from rural poverty to the cities in the 'Great Migration' after WWI, Big Bill Broonzy was a central figure on the 30s Chicago scene. Known as ‘The Beano Album’, this opened up the Blues to a new young audience on both sides of the Atlantic. Eric Clapton had left the Yardbirds because he thought they were going ‘commercial’ and this album, recorded with John Mayall’s superb band, is a powerful statement of his intent.

Everyday I Have the Blues is an album by singer Joe Williams with Count Basie and His Orchestra featuring tracks recorded in 1959 (with one track from 1957 on the original LP) which was originally released on the Roulette label.

1990's Still Got The Blues album was an abrupt and risky game-changer that reignited the tradition of blistering British blues guitar. It’s the best guitar I have ever playe. t has a magic all its own and a sound that I have never heard from any other guitar. Moore spent the mid to late 70s alternating between the hard rock of Thin Lizzy and the prog rock complexities of Colosseum II. He met up with Green again during the recording of his solo album Back On The Streets, the source of his first pop success, Parisienne Walkways. To which Taylor adds, Gary had perfect pitch, so we dropped in two notes where the tuning wasn’t spot on. That was such a small amount to fix. Gary was a very tough critic of his own playing. We were talking in the car and I said, ‘Have you heard of Albert Collins? I’ll play you a great track. You’ll love his guitar playing.

The second disc is better, with classics from Muddy Waters, Little Walter, Koko Taylor, Howlin' Wolf, Chuck Berry, John Lee Hooker, Albert King, and Lightnin' Hopkins paving the way, with only entries from Gary Moore, Jon Cleary, Johnny Winter, . Cale, and John Mayall dropping the quality. Although heavily advertised on TV, this is a long, long way from being an ultimate blues collection. Track Listing - Disc 1. Title/Composer.
