Grave New World is the second studio album by English hardcore punk band Discharge, released in 1986 by Clay Records. The band split up in 1986, shortly after the album's release, but would end up reforming in 1990.

Grave New World is the fourth studio album by English band Strawbs, their fifth overall. It was the first album to be released after the departure of Rick Wakeman, under circumstances about which band leader Dave Cousins was very bitter. Cousins has admitted that the track "Tomorrow" was written about Wakeman. Happily their friendship survived and the two have since performed and recorded together, releasing an album Hummingbird in 2002.

I remember back in 1986 when I bought this God awful record. I got home and listened to it. I rang the record shop and all I wanted was my money back and they wouldn't give it to me. I have been stuck with this album ever since. Hopefully Discharge will 'Never Again" make another album like it. Listen to this album and you will be crying out those famous Discharge lyrics "WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY?'

HAHAHAHAHAHA I had a very similar experience. It was about '89 or so when I got it. I didn't even know it had come out until then. "No Returns" the record store guy said. I'm pretty sure the only time I have ever tried to return a record. So bummed, WHY? The worst part about it maybe the photo on back. I fucking hate that picture!

Whilst not received well at the time by their original 'Punk' audience the band had been changing their approach for the previous 3 years leading up to this.. and the music here is really solid (if you like rock/HM), Rainy's bass playing is as great as ever, the lyrics are some of their best, though "Downward Spiral' was actually 'borrowed' from a poem which was printed in Punk Lives magazine..it's just those vocals..they sound weird even compared to other "rock" vocalists..Cal certainly wasn't going to be the next King Diamond, but overall an album worth checking out.. just don't expect "Realities of War" here.

Best Crossover Album of all time. Don't know why people doesn't like it. A milestone in the music business!!!!!

Best compleat fan-betraying stylistic fuck-up since the VILLAGE PEOPLE went New-Romantic, except I listen to this incredibly stupid fucking genius album ON PURPOSE. That's how tough me is.A tone-deaf Crust Punk "singer" exerting atonal falsetto wails that make LUST (Can) sound like Russel Mael is the nadir/zenith of western uncivilization. This album is THEE punk/metal crossover mistake of all antiquity. There's a reason people were so drunk in antiquity. That's all they had to drink, was alcohol, you cunt. Thus did being drunk and able to do a job well become an attribute.Hence does A Lot of Pissheads exist in our uncivilization vestigially.
