Description

This was ripped from my own LP. I was surprised to see not many of these songs on Youtube even though the albums before and after it are widely streamable.

New Riders of the Purple Sage is the self-titled debut album by the American country rock band the New Riders of the Purple Sage. It was released by Columbia Records in 1971, and reached number 39 on the Billboard charts. New Riders of the Purple Sage is the only studio album by the New Riders to feature co-founder Jerry Garcia of the Grateful Dead on pedal steel guitar. He is also featured on the live album Vintage NRPS.

New Riders of the Purple Sage. New Riders of the Purple Sage is an American country rock band. The group emerged from the psychedelic rock scene in San Francisco, California, in 1969, and its original lineup included several members of the Grateful Dead. Their best known song is "Panama Red". The band is sometimes referred to as the New Riders, or as NRPS.

But Brujo was the New Riders of the Purple Sage's sixth album in just over three years. That includes the band's previous release, Home, Home on the Road, a live LP from earlier in 1974, half of which consisted of previously unrecorded tunes. Maybe it's not surprising, then, that a group which, on its debut, New Riders of the Purple Sage, in 1971, seemed like a songwriting vehicle for singer/guitarist John Dawson, has had to scrounge around for songs to fill up its albums. One source of material was singer/bassist Dave Torbert, who leaned in a rock & roll direction.

This album has an average beat per minute of 131 BPM (slowest/fastest tempos: 88/174 BPM). See its BPM profile at the bottom of the page. Tracklist Home, Home on the Road, Brujo.
