Together, Lou Reed and Metallica come up with an album that, well, isn't as terrible as everyone assumed it would be. In my opinion, anyway. Fav tracks: dragon, mistress dread, frustration. Least fav track: brandenberg gate.

Lou Reed and Metallica's collaborative album based on German playwright Frank Wedekind's plays about a d-prostitute has been preemptively crowned "The Worst Album of All Time. It'd be one thing if Lulu were being slipped into the marketplace as a low-profile curiosity, akin to a 90s-era spoken word album with some alt-rocker screeching away in the background. Instead, it's being trumpeted by its makers as a historic event. In a now-infamous interview, James Hetfield and Lars Ulrich recall bursting into tears of pride during the recording sessions, while in another Reed grinningly insists that Metallica has "pushed me to the best I've ever been.
Lou Reed does his thing while metallica plays softly in the background. Probably more appreciated by Lou Reed fans, definetly not for Metal(lica) fans! Reply Notify me Helpful. By Thursday evening, they were waiting for me in the mailbox with the mail.

Lulu is a musical collaboration between Lou Reed and Metallica. It is inspired by German expressionist writer Frank Wedekind’s plays Earth Spirit and Pandora’s Box, which tell the story of a young abused dancer’s life and relationships, and are now collectively known as the Lulu plays. Since their publication in the early 1900s, the plays have been the inspiration for a silent film (Pandora’s Box, 1929), an opera, and countless other creative endeavors. The plays challenged the sexual and moral standards of their day and have remained highly controversial
Lou Reed & Metallica should be commended for so bravely attempting to meld their very different musical approaches on their new collaborative album 'Lulu. However, even though the record works, as a whole, better than the first single 'The View' or the sample clips from earlier in this week may have led us to believe, it's still quite an odd and frequently ill-fitting pairing. If Metallica was looking to fill what we're assuming is the only empty space on their award shelf, for "weirdest album of the year," well then, mission accomplished
The news that Lou Reed and Metallica were to collaborate was met with no small dose of trepidation. The combination of Metallica’s aforementioned troubles mixed with the fact that Reed is a mere blip on the Relevance Radar was a stark early warning to many.
