Amongst the longest running bands of German rock, Birth Control were formed way back in 1968 in Berlin. They chose their rather controversial name as a stab at Pope Paul's anti birth control policy. Current line up: Sascha "Sosho" Kühn - keyboards, piano (since 2000) Hannes "Cyborg Haines" Vesper - bass, backing vocals (since 1998) Martin "Ludi" Ettrich - guitar, talk box (since 2011).

Birth Control is a German rock band known for their progressive hard rock sound and provocative album covers (such as that of Two Eggs – Two Concerts which depicts a hen cooking eggs). Birth Control formed in 1966 in Berlin from two other bands, the Earls and the Gents.

BIRTH CONTROL were formed at the end of sixties. In those early years they played hybrid jazz rock compositions, mainly instrumental. They recorded their first album for Metronome bringing to the fore an accent for humour and provoking thoughts (the name of the band and the album cover illustrate it as well). Their second album "Operation" shows a great improvement in sound, a kind of heavy rock based sound with subtle jazzy arrangements. This album had a great success for the Ohr label (specialised to promote the rise of the German underground rock scene)
