Chimes of Freedom is a 1988 live Bruce Springsteen EP. It was released to support the multi-artist Human Rights Now! Tour in benefit of Amnesty International. This tour was announced near the end of a first-set radio broadcast during Springsteen's July 3, 1988 show in Stockholm, Sweden, after which Bob Dylan's "Chimes of Freedom" was performed. The performance of "Chimes of Freedom" on this EP peaked at number 16 on the Mainstream Rock charts in mid-late 1988.

Culled from recordings of Bruce Springsteen's spring 1988 Tunnel of Love tour, Chimes of Freedom is a four-track EP that initially was released as a benefit for Amnesty International, appearing as he joined the fall 1988 Human Rights Now! tour. It was recorded and released quickly, easily qualifying as the speediest project Springsteen has ever completed. Unfortunately, it occasionally feels a little slapdash, but it's hard to criticize a four-song live charity EP for being haphazardly assembled, since that's in its nature.

Originally released to benefit Amnesty International just as Bruce was joining the multi-artist Human Rights Now! tour, this four-song EP features performances from his 1988 Tunnel of Love tour with The E Street Band. The centerpiece is a cover of Bob Dylan’s folk classic Chimes of Freedom ; it’s transformed into an arena-rock anthem, with Max Weinberg’s pounding drums sounding like cannons. The acoustic version of Born to Run proves how Bruce could shrink the stadiums to handle an unusual level of intimacy
