The Moon's a Balloon is a best-selling memoir by British actor David Niven (1910–1983), published in 1971. It details his early life. Niven followed it with a sequel Bring on the Empty Horses in 1975. The book is a funny yet tragic tale, detailing everything from the loss of Niven's father to his natural knowledge of how to lead a good life.

Niven's mother, Henrietta Niven, remarried Sir Thomas Comyn-Platt in London in 1917. Furthermore, some believe that Sir Thomas may well have been David Niven's biological father. This supposition has some support among Henrietta's children. He followed this with Bring On the Empty Horses in 1975, a collection of entertaining reminiscences from Hollywood's "Golden Age" in the 1930s and '40s.

David Niven wrote two autobiographies: The Moon's a Balloon and Bring on the Empty Horses. While they were written several years apart, they do repeat many stories. His life was interesting enough that a little repetition, particularly when seen from a different stage of his life, is not a bad thing. For some though, this book would be a great diversion. It was for me for awhile. I still love the guy though even though his sexual morality was on the surface non existent. It wasn't salacious though.

Album Songs to Learn & Sing. Bring on the Dancing Horses Lyrics. Jimmy Brown, made of stone Charlie Clown, no way home Bring on the dancing horses Headless and all alone Shiver and say the words Of every lie you've heard. First I'm gonna make it Then I'm gonna break it Till it falls apart Hating all the faking And shaking while I'm breaking Your brittle heart. Billy stands all alone Sinking sand, skin and bone Bring on the dancing horses Wherever they may roam Shiver and say the words Of every lie you've heard. Brittle heart, brittle heart Brittle heart and my little heart goes. Jimmy Brown, made of stone Charlie Clown, no way home Bring on the headless horses Wherever they may roam Shiver and say the words Of every lie you've heard.
