Over the Edge is the third studio album by American punk rock band Wipers, released in 1983. Originally released on Brain Eater Records and Greg Sage's label, Trap, in 1983, it was later reissued by Restless Records, and then reissued and remastered on Sage's Zeno Records as part of the Wipers Box Set. A different recording of "Romeo" was released as a 1981 single on Trap, with "No Solution" on the B-side.

Bill Bruford has always been one of my favourite drummers and there are on 'Close to the Edge'sections where, in conjunction with Squire's snappy and guttural bass, 'Yes' stray as close as they ever got to within the forbidden outskirts of 'Funkytown'. The album is in the genre contemporary R&B (simply R&B, not to be confused with Rhythm And Blues which is also titled R&B) and features the hit song Say You Won’t Let Go. Most of the songs in the album feature a lyrics about trying to escape depression and ‘the demons’, but some of the songs also feature romance, and others are a mix of both the former and romance. This album showcases Yes at their most concise, and is probably the best starting point. 1972's Fragile introduced Yes' highest-powered line-up, as the silver-cape wearing, 12-keyboard-hauling Rick Wakeman replaced the mediocre Tony Kaye. The band's crowning achievement, Close to the Edge, contains only three lengthy "songs," but each one is an absolute epic. The title track dominates all of side one of the original LP, rushing in with a burbling, dissonant intro, Howe's jagged riffing and Wakeman's fluttering fingers building a dense, overpowering texture. And "To Be Over" would've been pretty if they hadn't jammed it with instrumentals.

Often and rightfully cited as Yes’ greatest achievement, Close to the Edge features the seminal 70’s progressive band at the peak of their combined powers. Along with its predecessor Fragile, it is also definite proof that the quintet of Anderson, Bruford, Howe, Squire and Wakeman remains the non-debatable classic line-up, that sadly enough could not last for more than these two albums. Though featuring only 3 epic tracks and running merely 37 minutes in length, the album carries none of the group’s former rough edges or future missteps
