Scenes from Childhood, Op. 15. Robert Schumman wrote his Scenes From Childhood (Kinderszenen in its original German), in 1838. These are thirteen pieces for solo piano, which Schumman grouped in a single set for publishing. Though they are usually considered to evoke reminiscences of childhood through the music, it is known that Schumman had initially titled them Easy Pieces (Leichte Stücke), and that the added the now-popular titles after completing the music, describing them as 'nothing more than delicate hints for interpretation'.

The 13 pieces that constitute Robert Schumann's Kinderszenen for piano (Scenes from Childhood), Op. 15 (1838) showcase their creator's musical imagination at the peak of its poetic clarity. As a result, the Kinderszenen have long been staples of the repertoire as utterly charming yet substantial miniatures, the sort of compact keyboard essays in which Schumann's genius found full expression.

Kinderszenen, Op. 15, by Robert Schumann, is a set of thirteen pieces of music for piano written in 1838. Schumann wrote 30 movements for this work but chose 13 for the final version.

Whereas Schumann composed the "Album for the Young" for children, his "Scenes from Childhood" (Kinderszenen) are reflections of childhood for adults. Like many of his character pieces, Schumann notes that the 13 selections in this set were composed before their titles were assigned. She earned a Master of Music degree from the University of Wisconsin, where she studied with Paul Badura-Skoda. She co-authored the text Studying Suzuki Piano: More than Music, which was endorsed by Dr. Suzuki.
