Whitney Houston possessed the kind of vocal wizardry that could transform The Star Spangled Banner into a soulful, emotionally transcendent anthem-and here it’s an honest-to-goodness power ballad. This expansive collection offers both breadth and depth: Achingly romantic tunes from The Bodyguard soundtrack ( I Will Always Love You and Run to You ) complement snappy remixes of early-career gems ( I Wanna Dance with Somebody ) and deeper cuts such as One Moment in Time. It’s the definitive overview of one of pop music’s truly unparalleled talents. Whitney: The Greatest Hits Whitney Houston.

Although Whitney Houston's Greatest Hits is a double-disc package (and is priced as such), only the first disc actually contains original versions of Houston's hit singles; the second disc, "The Greatest Remixes", collects remixes new and old to appeal to hardcore fans. Of course, it would be impossible to fit all of Houston's 20-plus chart singles onto one disc, but that single-disc format still could have produced a fantastic and near-definitive collection. 1986 Precious Moments album. For the completist, Houston's Top 20 hit recording of "The Star-Spangled Banner," performed at Super Bowl XXV, is tacked on at the end of the remix disc as well. Overall, the Greatest Hits disc amply reinforces once again what a fine singles artist Houston has been for the entirety of her career.
The two CDs on The Greatest Hits track Houston's rise from mid-'80s Top 40 balladeer to standard-setting diva. Disc 1, Cool Down, runs chronologically through Houston's down-tempo love songs, from "The Greatest Love of All" and "I Will Always Love You" to the cleverly conceived new duet with Deborah Cox, "Same Script, Different Cast. This album is such a timely and good example of someone who can "sell" a song and infuse real meaning into the music. Whitney's death was untimely for a woman of her age, but the special something she brought to music with her singing and stylizing are unquestionable. My daughter loves this album (even though "it's old", according to her), and we'll enjoy this for some time.
Whitney: The Greatest Hits is a compilation album by American singer Whitney Houston, released in May 2000. The set consists of disc one with ballads and disc two with uptempo numbers and remixes.
