Janysium, Mach One (2) - Recording Studios ‎(Cass, Album, Comp).

Mach One are a British neo-progressive rock band, founded in 1980 by a group of students attending Burlington Danes High School in West London. After a series of studio demos, school gigs and lineup changes, the band attracted the attention of Keith Goodwin (notable as publicist for Yes, Rod Argent, Black Sabbath, in the 1970s, and Marillion in the 1980s) who represented them through 1983-85.

The album cover featured artwork provided by Glenn Fabry, better known for his work as a British Comics artist. 17 Hertz Studio is a 10,000 sq ft production and recording facility in Los Angeles, California. It is located at 5253 Lankershim BLVD, North Hollywood, CA, in the center of the NoHo Arts District. 17 Hertz Studio was formerly known as One On One Recording, which was owned by Jim David (son of Hal David). The studio was popular for having the "best drum sound in Los Angeles" and was highly recognized for recording Metallica's 16x platinum self-titled album Metallica, also known as the Black Album.

On this album Ray plays most instruments himself (guitar, bass guitar, mouth organ, piano and strings) and he is helped once again by his brother Steve (guitar and backing vocals) as well as singer Amanda Lyon - both had also contributed on the Live and Acoustic album. In contrast, Clockwork Subversive has quite an infectious chorus but suffers most from the demo nature of the recording, the 'call and response' lyrical narrative does demonstrate an advance in writing technique but the band don't quite pull it off. New Worlds is more straight ahead pop/rock while Me is another directionless song.

German rapper and producer Mach One (Christoph Bodenhammer) was born on April 5, 1979 in East Berlin. The son of poet Uwe Kolbe, he learned his craft in the Kreuzberg district of Berlin and soon found himself immersed in the local graffiti scene. He met fellow rapper Act One amidst the scene and they started to freestyle and produce beats. They would call their collaboration the Lätzten. After honing his style, Mach One came to the attention of producer Gynecologist, who included him on a mixtape

MACH ONE released AN ANCIENT LIE, in 2003. Mach One would later form into Janysium and release even more excellent progressive rock. This material is scheduled for reissue too. I can hardly wait!
