Geminism is the second album by brother sister group Gemini, released in 1987. Like their previous album, Geminism features songwriting contributions again from artists such as Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus, formerly of ABBA, and Anders Glenmark and Ingela Forsman. The album's material overall was less serious than its predecessor. One song from the LP became a hit: "Mio My Mio". All songs written by Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus except where indicated.

Gemini's eponymous first album received an international release but was not a sales success. Much of the material was written by former ABBA members Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus, who also coined the group's name. The remainder was written by Anders and his songwriting partner at that time, Ingela Forsman. Although not a Gemini recording per se, the 1994 release of "Chess In Concert" (a musical by Benny Andersson, Tim Rice and Björn Ulvaeus) showcased their combined voices and distinctive harmonies; Anders playing the role of The American and Karin playing Florence. Karin and Anders returned to the studio together in 2005 to record 'Den som sa det var det' (Those Who Said That Was That) - a new Swedish version of "Too Much Love Is Wasted" - and added a new backing track to 'When I Close My Eyes'.

The show's staging itself might have been a troubled affair but this is a strong body of work. The recent Polar CD reissue is a poor remaster of the original version and the DVD stuff probably of most interest to fans but worth owning if you are. Vinyl is your best bet for audio but the original CD is the best for CD listeners. However, the male half (Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus) managed to make something that caught my attention. This concept album about an international chess tournament has a great combination of catchy pop tunes ("One Night in Bangkok", "The Deal", "Nobody's Side") and beautiful orchestral work ("Chess", "You and I", "Anthem"). Never before has chess sounded so exciting.

Björn Ulvaeus and Benny Andersson met each other in 1966 at a party in Västervik in Sweden. In autumn 1966 they decided to try to work together. Their first common composition was "Isn't It Easy to Say". The album contained two Björn and Benny songs: "En visa om arton svanar" (A song about 18 swans) and "Barn" (Children). The album was recorded in London and arranged by Arthur Greenslade. Gemini performed some of their latest songs from the album "Geminism" (Mio My Mio, TLC) and Europe performed their hit "Final countdown". Mio Min Mio - the single. The film "Mio in the Land of Faraway" (Swedish: "Mio min mio") was a cooproduction between Sweden and Sovjet Union and it had premiere in Sweden in October 1987. The soundtrack to it was written by Benny Andersson and Anders Eljas.
